MTN South Africa logs theft of 733 batteries from tower sites in April

MTN South Africa says it has seen a rise in battery theft and vandalism at mobile phone towers. Ernest Paul, GM of Network Operations at MTN said recent data shows MTN had 733 batteries stolen from its sites across the country in April. The worst-hit areas are currently Soweto, Tembisa, Vereeniging and Parktown, but this is a national problem affecting all mobile networks.
