MTN South Africa welcomes court victory over trade union regarding shop sell-offs

Monday 8 June 2020 | 10:38 CET | News
MTN South Africa has welcomed a court decision not to grant the Communication Workers Union (CWU) the relief it sought in the matter of the sell-off of MTN's branded stores, ITWeb reported. Jacqui O'Sullivan, executive for corporate affairs at MTN South Africa, said the firm began a process to sell some of its shops in 2019 and develop an ownership model that addresses the demographics of the country and supports broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) in the industry by lowering the barrier to entry, introducing new competition to the market and expanding MTN's store footprint.
