MTN Uganda plans to lock out stolen money from buying shares

Thursday 1 November 2018 | 10:38 CET | News
MTN Uganda says it could align with entities such as pension funds, nurses, teachers and war veterans' Saccos (savings and credit cooperative organisations), among others, to lock out people using stolen or laundered money to buy shares in the company. MTN chairman Charles Mbire told Daily Monitor that it has started a process that will enable Ugandans to own a share of one of the firm, but he said it will be carefully done to avoid rewarding "thieves" who would "bring in stolen money to contaminate the company".
