MTN Uganda says mobile money tax halves daily transactions

MTN Uganda says its daily mobile money volumes have reduced to about UGX 50 billion from an average of UGX 100 billion, reports The Monitor. The drop follows the implementation of the 1 percent mobile money tax on 01 July. Elsa Muzzolini, the MTN mobile money general manager, told Daily Monitor that the tax "has already impacted our business" and is likely to continue to do so.
