MTN Uganda will not raise data prices after introduction of 12% excise duty

MTN Uganda has announced it will not increase its data prices following the introduction of a 12 percent excise duty. The new tax is effective since 01 July and replaces the Over the Top (OTT) tax of UGX 200 per day that was introduced in 2018. MTN Uganda said customers can now use the internet and social media platforms without paying the tax.
