MTS launches e-sports platform

Thursday 14 March 2019 | 15:17 CET | News

Russian mobile operator MTS has launched interactive media-platform Wasd.TV for fans of e-sports and gamers. The operator has also introduced a special Gambit League that selects the best e-sport amateurs for professional teams.

Users of the platform can watch others playing e-sports and participate in gaming tournaments.

The platform was designed by the operator, using resources from cloud service provider CloudMTS. The platform is available under an open beta for subscribers of all Russian operators.

MTS expects the Russian e-sports market to reach USD 55 million this year. It will grow, on average, by 20 percent on an annual basis, and pass USD 100 million in 2023.

MTS plans to invest up to USD 10 million in the e-sports segment by the end of the year.
