Monday 12 June 2017 | 09:38 CET | News
MultiChoice South Africa has welcomed the Constitutional Court's order in favour of the decision by former communications minister Faith Muthambi against encryption in government-subsidised set-top boxes. MultiChoice said it trusts that the ruling will pave the way for digital terrestrial television, reports MyBroadcast. The set-top boxes in question will be manufactured locally and distributed to low-income households that cannot afford the converter needed to receive a digital TV signal.
