Murdoch in talks for Digital+ acquisition – report

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch, owner of News Corp, and Telefonica are in talks with Spanish media group Prisa to acquire its satellite pay-TV platform Digital+, El Confidencial reports, citing unnamed industry sources. Via this transaction, Murdoch would become the owner of the TV broadcast rights for the football leagues of England, Italy, Germany and Spain. Telefonica already owns a 22 percent stake in Digital+, which it acquired in 2009.
