Music labels insist on power to sanction pirates in France

Music labels are awaiting with some trepidation the consultation process promised by France's new government to establish the basis for what president Hollande has called "Act 2 of the Cultural Exception". Music publishers told Les Echos they are willing to engage in the dialogue but they are opposed to a talking process if it only serves to legitimate establishing a system already agreed by new administration that would remove the power of sanctions against persistent illegal downloaders.
