MVNO subs in Australia up to 14.3%

An increasing number of Australian mobile phone users are connected via virtual networks. In three years to June 2013, the proportion of Australian mobile phone users aged 14+ using an MVNO increased from 9.2 percent to 14.3 percent, with the bulk of growth coming from post-paid consumers, from 5.3 percent in 2010 to 9.4 percent now, according to Roy Morgan Research. The most common reason for MVNO consumers to choose their current service provider was cheaper rates at 60.2 percent, compared with just 21.8 percent overall of customers with one of the large opearators—Telstra, Optus, or
