The 2018 edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona attracted a total of 107,000 visitors, slightly down on last year’s record of 108,000, but still described as a “highly successful event across many fronts” by GSMA CEO John Hoffman. After surpassing 100,000 visitors for the first time in its history in 2016, this year’s event welcomed visitors from 205 countries and hosted more than 2,400 exhibiting companies, up from 2,300 in 2017. Over 55 percent of Mobile World Congress attendees held senior-level positions, including more than 7,700 CEOs, up from more than 6,100 CEOs in 2017.

In addition, a preliminary independent economic analysis indicates that the event will have contributed over EUR 471 million and some 13,000 part-time jobs to the local economy, said the GSMA, adding that next year’s event will be held in Barcelona from 25 to 28 February 2019.
