South Africa ISP Mweb announced that that over 2,000 Fon Wi-Fi hotspots are already active in South Africa, with over 7,000 Fon routers ordered since the launch of its partnership with the Wi-Fi provider. The service lets Mweb subscribers share their ADSL connection with other Fon users. In exchange they receive access to Fon's global community of 12 million hotspots. Fon recently announced that it aims to broaden the network to 35 million users by 2016, Mweb said. Mweb said it has experienced overwhelming demand for its new Fon offering.
