NaMeX, Topix team up to create Mediterranean hub

Two of Italy's leading Internet eXchange Points (IXPs) have reached an agreement to create a bridge to the Mediterranean via a new aggregation point in Palermo. The IXPConnect service launched by Turin-based Topix (Torino Piemonte Internet Exchange) and Rome-based NaMeX (Nautilus Mediterranean Exchange Point Consortium) is designed to connect the IP networks of emerging markets with Italy's broadband network and offer new development opportunities for the network in Italy's digital divide areas. The service will allow ISPs to interconnect to the large neutral internet access points in Rome
