Namibian govt has NAD 678 mln ICT budget this year

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has been allocated NAD 678 million for its current budget, New Era reported. Just over NAD 79 million is earmarked for the development of an e-waste management policy, the completion of the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) policy guidelines, an update of the broadcasting policy and the completion of the information policy. MICT will also oversee the establishment of the Universal Service Fund (USF), and there are proposals to include broadcasters to contribute to and use the USF for deploying services to rural areas.
