NBC fines 88 broadcast stations NGN 12 mln for breaching code

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has fined 88 radio and television stations NGN 11.78 million for contravention of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, reports the Daily Trust. The NBC said the commission was compiling the list of errant stations to be sanctioned for unwholesome broadcasting. Head of public affairs at NBC Maimuna Jimada said that their offences ranged from breaches of rules on vulgar lyrics, unverifiable claims and hate speeches, among other things.
