Monday 12 August 2013 | 14:59 CET | News
NBC News, a unit of Comcast's NBCUniversal, has confirmed its acquisition of Stringwire, an early stage web service that enables streaming live video to its control rooms in New York from mobile phones of witnesses. The acquisition is expected to boost the broadcaster's news coverage of live events. The service was developed by Phil Groman while a graduate student in the Interactive Telecommunications Programme at New York University. He will join NBC News as Product Lead and be based out of the NBC News Digital Group's San Francisco office.
