The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) plans to issue new licences for the 70/80 GHz band to telecom operators before the end of the second quarter of this year, the National Mirror reported. The aim is to provide high speed and high capacity data services within the metropolitan cities across the country. Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Eugene Juwah told stakeholders at a forum about the plans to issue a licence for the 70/80GHz band in Lagos state, to reduce the pressure and management challenges experienced with the traditional microwave frequency bands.
