NCC gives telcos 48 hours to deactivate unused SIMs

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says it has given mobile operators an order to deactivate any SIM card that was registered but unused after 48 hours, The Nation reported. Director of Public Affairs Tony Ojobo said SIM card registration by operators has reduced criminal activities perpetrated via mobile phones. He said trackable identity has become necessary to ease business.
