Viasat said has been granted a full suite of operating licences to provider internet connectivity in Nigeria, namely an ISP licence, VSAT licence and three Earth Stations in Motion (ESIM) licences. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) granted Viasat multiple licences to operate within the 28GHz Ka-band satellite frequency band. Since being granted the licences, Viasat has begun a trial programme to connect five unserved Nigerian communities, covering approximately 15,000 people. Viasat plans to provide details of the trials later this year.
