NCC plans NGN 65 bln subsidies for infrastructure companies

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says it plans to seek the Federal Executive Council's (FEC) support for granting and disbursing NGN 65 billion in planned subsidies for Infrastructure Companies (InfraCos), reports CommunicationsWeek. InfraCos are licensed by the NCC to provide Layer 1 (dark fibre) services on a commercial basis, focus on deploying metropolitan fibre, and providing transmission services, at access points (fibre-to-the-Node or neighbourhood – FTTN).
