NCC promises NGN 23 billion in subsidies for broadband infrastructure deployment

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) said the five licensed infrastructure companies (Infracos) will receive NGN 23 billion in subsidies as soon as they start deployment, the Daily Trust reported. NCC Executive vice chairman Umar Garba Danbatta said the aim is to increase broadband penetration, which will in turn improve the economy. The goal is 30 percent broadband penetration by the end of 2018, said Danbatta.
