NCC says USD 3.9 bln MTN fine will not scare investors

Head of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Garba Danbatta has insisted that the USD 3.9 billion fine it imposed on MTN Nigeria for SIM card registration infractions will not scare away foreign and local investors, ThisDay reported. Danbatta said investors are ready to invest in jurisdictions where industry rules and sanctions are transparently applied across the board, no matter who is involved. He said the truth of the matter is that investors want jurisdictions where the rules are certain and they know if these rules are breached, there will be sanctions.
