NCC threatens sanctions over illegal use of 5.4 GHz

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has threatened to impose sanctions, including imprisonment, fines and confiscation of equipment, for illegal use of the 5.4 GHz frequency band, reports CommunicationsWeek. The band has less traffic and can handle it more efficiently, hence its popularity. The NCC said that some companies and agencies of government in eleven states are using it illegally.
