NCC to enforce fixed telephony service provision on operators

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says it will embark on mandatory enforcement of provisions of the universal service and access licence given to telecom operators, in efforts to revive fixed telephony in the country, the Guardian reported. NCC CEO Umar  Danbatta said even though the universal service and access licence cover both mobile and fixed line services, operators are concentrating on deploying mobile services, to the detriment of the fixed line.
