NCC urges arbitration as study finds banks set disproportionate charges for USSD services

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has called for an amicable resolution to the discrepancies in USSD charges received by banks and payments made to telecom operators, The Punch reported. Director of Licensing and Authorisation at NCC, Alhaji Mohammed Babajika, said there needs to be a dispute resolution and arbitration channel to address mobile banking matters. Babajika said that after a cost-based study by the commission and telecom operators, a sum of NGN 1.63 per session was arrived at for USSD access.
