Nearly 17 mln Italians purchased online in Q1 - study

A total of 16.9 million Italian consumers made at least one online purchase in the first quarter of the year, with 11 million individuals making at least three purchases, according to the latest e-commerce update from the Italian Consortium of Electronic Commerce (Netcomm) in association with Human Highway. The most popular goods purchased online in the quarter were e-books, accounting for 15.4 percent of sales, followed by travel tickets (13.1 percent), clothing (12.5 percent), mobile phone top-ups (11.1 percent) and computers and PC peripherals (6.5 percent).
