Nearly 50 million French people watched TV for almost 4 hours a day, on all screens combined, in 2014, according to market researcher Mediametrie. It was a record year for sports, with the Sochi Winter Olympics and World Cup. French households had 6.4 screens on average, multiplying opportunities to watch live, delayed and replay TV in and outside the home. After TV sets, computers are the favourite means of watching TV, followed by smartphones and tablets. Some 2 million people aged 15 or over watch TV on another screen than the TV set every day, or 82 percent more than in 2012. TV viewing
