Nearly 9 in 10 Spaniards using WhatsApp - study

Nearly 90 percent of smartphone owners in Spain are using WhatsApp to send messages and over 30 percent use it to make calls over the internet, according to a survey conducted by regulator CNMC corresponding to the second quarter of the year. WhatsApp is now used for messaging by 89.8 percent of smartphone owners, up from 84.6 percent in the year-earlier quarter, followed by Facebook Messenger with 36.0 percent, up from 25.2 percent, and Skype with 8.1 percent, flat year on year.
