Nearly half of Italians own or view illegal content – survey

Around one in three Italians download illegal content, while the piracy rate, including the illegal streaming of audiovisual content, stands at 48 percent, compared to the EU average of 33 percent. These are just some of the figures revealed at a workshop on online copyright organized by industry group, Confindustria Radio TV, which concluded that the root of the problem is that the majority of Italians do not perceive online piracy as a crime.
