NEC, NetCracker, Cricket to trial SDN and vEPC

NEC and NetCracker Technology have announced an agreement with Cricket Communications to trial network virtualisation based on SDN (software-defined networking) and NFV (network functions virtualisation) technologies. Cricket, NetCracker and NEC will collaborate in the trial to virtualise the Evolved Packet Core network, demonstrating that virtual network functions are portable between different hardware platforms. Cricket will test and evaluate a single pointed infrastructure model to manage all aspects of a virtualised network, enabling Cricket to determine how this strategy can further
