Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) said it will premiere a second season of successful Norwegian crime drama 'Wisting' in spring 2021 on its Viaplay streaming service in the Nordic and Baltic regions. The second series sees Larvik detective William Wisting (Sven Nordin) hunt an escaped killer before he can strike again, and then solve the macabre mystery of an unknown woman’s head placed on a spike in the centre of Larvik.

The eight-episode serial is written and directed by Trygve Allister Diesen with Vegard Steiro Amundsen and Jadranko Mehic as co-writers. It is produced by Cinenord in cooperation with Germany's ARD Degeto. Production started in early October.

The series is based on Jorn Lier Horst's 'Wisting' books, which have sold over 1.2 million copies in Norway alone and been translated into 30 languages. Thea Green Lundberg and Mads Ousdal both return in their supporting roles.

The first series of 'Wisting' one was acclaimed by audiences and critics around the world, said NENT, and shown on the UK’s BBC Four and Sundance Now in the US. The new season of 'Wisting' will launch exclusively on NENT's Viaplay streaming service across the Nordic and Baltic regions.
