Netflix buys cartoon series from French studio Ankama

Netflix has bought global distribution rights for the "Wakfu" cartoon series from animation and video game production specialist Ankama, based in Roubaix, northern France, writes Les Echos. The 100-person studio's general manager, Olivier Comte, said that it will be possible to say that there are some people in France who are happy about Netflix's arrival. The deal was struck a few weeks ago. Ankama has over 500 employees in all, and turned over EUR 40 million last year. It expects distribution through Netflix to boost sales of video games, mangas and TV studio games. Wakfu aired between 2008
