Netflix gains ground on digital media players in the US

A growing number of US homes are relying on dedicated set-top/plug-in device, such as digital media players to watch Netflix on a TV set, according to GfK's Over-the-Top TV 2014 study. Although videogame consoles, still the most common devices to view Netflix on TV, are used much less than three years ago. Some 28 percent of households that stream Netflix on a TV used a digital media player such as Roku, Apple TV or Chromecast, compared to 15 percent in 2013 and 6 percent in 2011.
