New Caledonian court rejects legal challenge against OPT-NC over subsea cable project

OPT New Caledonia (OPT-NC) has welcomed a favourable ruling by the territory's administrative tribunal, rejecting a legal challenge brought by local company SCCI (Societe Caledonienne de Connectivite Internationale). The case centred on the deal signed last year with ASN (Alcatel Submarine Network) for the Gondwana-2 subsea cable project. SCCI had urged the court to invalidate the contract that OPT-NC had awarded to ASN, for reasons including the principle of equal treatment in the tender.
