New Indian PM promotes 100 smart cities plan

Indian prime minister Narenda Modi said he supports a USD 1.2 billion investment plan for smart cities with funding from the government as well as private and overseas sources, UPI reports. China has already dedicated USD 8 billion to a similar project, and smart cities have recently built from scratch in S Korea and the UAE. India wants to retrofit existing cities with smart city technologies and to build 100 new ones.
