New Mexican porting process to take effect in September

Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has published the newly updated mobile number portability rules and confirmed that they are to enter into force on 23 September. The regulator said the aim was to strengthen the rights of users wishing to switch telephone service provider while retaining the same number. Users no longer need to submit an application form requesting the porting of geographic numbers, nor do the companies involved need to send scanned ID documents to the database administrator.
