This new version has thrown away everything that was good in the previous version. It is confusing, uses mobile screen space very badly, forces many 'finger errors', requires ridiculous amounts of scrolling and generally breaks most of the rules of HCI design. Very sad particularly as the original App was a model of efficient, clear design. The vast amounts of graphics in the new version will eat 3G/4G data at great expense. They need to re-think this or re-release the original version as an alternative (BBC News Lite??).
