Nextel Brasil moves to operating profit in Q1

Nextel Brasil recorded in the first quarter of 2015 a decrease of 20.1 percent in revenues to USD 340.6 million, but moved to a profit of USD 3.5 million from losses of USD 29.1 million recorded in the same period last year. ARPU fell 26 percent to USD 23, hurt by the stronger dollar versus the real. In the quarter, Nextel added 241,300 WCDMA/LTE subscribers for a total 1.971 million, almost three times more than year earlier. The iDen customers base fell by 30 percent to 2.42 million. Churn went from 2.39 percent in 2014 to 3.10 percent in Q1 2015.
