Nextel Peru kicks off 4G LTE operation in Lima

Nextel Peru has launched 4G LTE services in the San Borja district of capital Lima, Andina reports. The launch was supervised by the country's telecoms regulator Osiptel. However, the service is not yet commercially available, according to the report. Nextel, owned by Chilean telco Entel had until September to launch 4G LTE services. The deadline was stipulated in the concession contracts signed between the telco and the regulator. The firm will use 40 MHz of spectrum in the 2,110-2,170 MHz band for the provision of 4G nationwide. Entel acquired Nextel Peru for USD 410 million from NII
