NextGenTel said at its markets day that network modernisation plans will reduce the number of points of presence (PoPs) from approximately 750 in March 2016 to 300 eventually. NextGenTel said prerequisites for utilising new copper technologies such as vectoring and G.Fast are that there should only be one technology per node, and that micro-nodes should be used. Existing, larger nodes are extended by smaller nodes closer to the customer, and there can only be one operator per geographical area.
