Nielsen pulls broadband-only homes from pay TV panel

Wednesday 3 February 2016 | 11:16 CET | News
Under client pressure, Nielsen has removed broadband-only homes from its cable and satellite TV sample, the New York Post reports, citing a statement from Disney. The Nielsen panel shows that 1.2 million homes had cut the cord as of December 2015, much fewer than the 4.33 million estimated to have cut their pay TV subscriptions in the year. The audience measurement company did not restate estimates for 2015. Disney said, "Nielsen's correction reinforces what we've said all along, that the vast majority of consumers prefer the multichannel bundle."
