Nigeria plans 9% consumer telecom tax to make up for oil

The Nigerian government is planning to introduce a 9 percent communication service tax to be paid by consumers of voice, data, SMS, MMS and pay TV services, ITWeb reported. The move is reportedly due to efforts by authorities to make up for the shortfall of the falling price of crude oil globally. The Communication Service Tax Bill 2015 is currently before the National Assembly.
