Nigeria to launch own satellite in 2018

Nigeria's Science and Technology Minister Abdu Bulama said the government would launch its first "made-in-Nigeria satellite" by 2018, in the bid to hasten the pace of socio-economic development in Nigeria. Bulama told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in that science and technology would fast track the government's transformation agenda and sustain the growth of the national economy. He said the ministry was deploying science and technology apparatus to enhance the pace of socio-economic development and infrastructure such as roads, power, water supply, and transportation.
