Nigerian government plans NGN 265 bln broadband project to boost economy

The Nigerian government is planning a NGN 265 billion investment in broadband infrastructure over the next four years to achieve nationwide coverage and boost the economy after a 2016 contraction, Bloomberg reported. It will provide NGN 65 billion for the project and six private infrastructure companies will supply the balance under a public-private partnership, according to Umar Danbatta, the chief executive officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission.
