Nigerian govt plans to discourage foreign football, film investment

The Nigerian government says it will amend the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Code to compel brands to sponsor Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and other local legacies, reports the Guardian. Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture said the government will make sure that under the Code, anyone spending USD 1 million to support a foreign football club like Manchester United in Nigeria will not be allowed to air that programme unless they spend 30 percent of that money to promote Nigeria's league.
