Nigerian govt tells Twitter to register locally in order for ban to be lifted

Twitter's suspension in Nigeria will end once it submits to local licensing, registration and conditions, the government said, according to AFP. It rejected criticism that the ban had stifled freedom of expression. Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, said that the microblogging site had sought talks with the government, which suspended its operations in the country on 04 June, saying it was used for activities threatening national stability.
