Nigerian IT agency boosts internet take-up with new IXPs

Nigeria's National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is currently establishing various Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) across the country with the aim of boosting internet penetration in the country. NITDA director-general Cleopas Angaye said the agency would establish IXPs in all the six geopolitical zones. They will be put in place in collaboration with the private sector. Aganye said NITDA had built and inaugurated two of the IXPs in Abuja and Port Harcourt and work is ongoing in collaboration with the University of Lagos for the Lagos Higher Education Connectivity Project.
