Nigerian IT agency head urges West African broadband policy

The director general of the National Information Technology Agency of Nigeria, Cleopas Angaye, has called for a comprehensive broadband policy for the West African sub-region, The Punch reported. A common policy ought to be adopted by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), he said. This has become necessary because of the number of submarine fibre cables targeted at the sub-region. A broadband policy with a requisite strategic implementation plan would ensure that West Africa was able to bridge the digital divide, he said. He said the policy thrust should be vigorously
