Nine million Germans go online for dating - study

Nine million Germans - equivalent to every sixth citizen - have searched for a partner on the internet, according to a new study conducted by Bitkom Research in corporation with Aris. More than a third (36%) were successful and found a partner. Online-dating is particularly popular among young people between the ages of 14 and 29, among whom every fourth (23%) has tried it. This drops to 16 per cent in the age group of 30 to 49 years and further to 14 per cent among the 50 to 64-year-olds. Dating apps based on GPS are only used by 2 percent of users.
