Nine out of 10 German cities with 100,000 residents offer free public Wi-Fi

Nine out of ten German cities (89%) with a population of 100,000 people or more offer free public Wi-Fi, and 17 percent provide a Wi-Fi network even outside of the city centre, according to the Smart City Index from Digital Association Bitkom. Four out of ten cities (38%) allow unlimited use of public Wi-Fi. For the first time, the index examines regional, demographic and other factors relating to the digitization process of large German cities.
